Sleep and Insomnia

  • Getting the right sleep.

There are many causes to sleep disorders such as stress, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, alcohol, drug use and many more! These can cause us to either have a lack of sleep or too much sleep.

Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Lack of adequate sleep can add to stress, it can cause memory loss, it can affect concentration, rational thinking. Lack of sleep can also cause high blood pressure, diabetes as sleep will affect insulin levels produced.

Additionally, oversleeping  is very common sign of depression, it can make us gain weight, or trigger headaches as it affects neurotransmitters. It can also make depression worse as it can make people feel like they cannot get up and tackle tasks.

Solution focused psychotherapy can provide support when assisting you to come up with your own sleep schedule goals! Hypnotherapy can benefit sleep disorders as it can help your conscious mind rest and shut off so you can go to sleep on time. It helps develop a correct sleep routine so you can get adequate sleep every evening, and reduce wakening through the night. This is important and in turn, depression, anxiety and stress levels will decrease. Typically 6-8 full sessions are required.
