About

About Me

 My name is Sophie Bell and I am the owner of Bell Hypnotherapy.  I am a fully qualified level 5 Clinical Hypnotherapist and Modern Psychotherapist, GHR and ACCPH registered. After completing a bachelors with honours degree in Social Sciences at Edinburgh Napier University, I discovered my passion for understanding and helping others which led me to study hypnotherapy and psychotherapy with Sophie Douglas Hypnotherapy Training in May 2022.  Having successfully completed this course I am now fully qualified to  provide personalised hypnotherapy sessions designed to help you lead a balanced, harmonious life. 

Outside of hypnotherapy, I have an interest in history and worked as a tour guide for four years at Floors Castle in Kelso, Scottish Borders.  I also enjoy riding horses and looking after my lovely Labradoodle Teddy.

How I Can Help

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic method which aims to improve individuals’ lives in a variety of ways, some of these include, strengthening mental well-being, physical health, and the use of more efficient coping mechanisms. The process of hypnosis uses relaxation, trance, metaphors, and suggestions to reinforce positive alterations an individual can make in order to overcome or deal with concerns or situations in a much more mentally beneficial way.

The notion of trance is a normal process, when an individual drifts into a daydream, this will happen many times a day for all people and shares similarities with Rapid Eye Movement sleep. When someone is in trance, it is not as deep as sleep, however Rapid Eye Movement may still occur. In hypnotherapy we help induce this trance and when clients are in a trance, suggestions can be received by the subconscious, which can help individuals deal with habits, mental health, phobias etc. Number of sessions required will vary to every individual however most people need around 6-8 sessions.
